Rebates and Fees
** From 1 July 2020. Approximate rebates and will vary based on individual circumstances.
Medicare offers partial rebates for consultations with Psychologists under the 'Better Access to Mental Health Care' initiative. In order to claim this rebate, you must have a Mental Health Care Plan and referral completed by either your General Practitioner or Medical Specialist. Up to 10 individual sessions with a psychologist can be claimed per calendar year. Progress will be reviewed with your referring General Practitioner or Medical Specialist after your first six sessions to determine eligibility for an additional four sessions.
Please bring your referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan at the time of your first session. Medicare rebates can be claimed during your consultation.
Please note you are not required to have a Mental Health Care Plan and Referral to see Dr. Louise Steel for psychological consultation, however you will have to pay the full consultation fee (unless you can claim a rebate through your private health fund).
You may be eligible for a rebate through your Private Health Fund. Speak directly to your Private Health Fund for further information regarding your eligibility. Please note that only one claim channel can be used per session (i.e. either Medicare or Private Health Insurance, but not both).
Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
Dr. Louise Steel is a registered provider for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC). Please bring your TAC claim details to your first session.
Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT)
If you have been a victim of crime you may be entitled to funding to cover psychological services. Please bring your VOCAT reference number to your first session.
WorkSafe can provide funding for psychology services to assist a worker in the rehabilitation of a work-related injury or illness, following the provision of a written referral from a medical practitioner.
